Private beta. Running errands is limited to a single-operator internal pilot — one internal
account, enabled by hand, admitted by invitation rather than by self-serve signup; anyone else
gets a structured refusal instead of a run. Screenshots a step takes are stored unredacted,
encrypted at rest, for 30 days. Nothing on this page is a promise that this errand runs for your
account today.
What this errand is for
Get the recent fees refunded, then switch off the setting that caused them — so a card payment you cannot cover stops costing you thirty-five dollars, whether the bank declines it or quietly lets it through.
What Hence Assistant does in the pilot
- Count what you have actually paid, over a full year.
- Work out what to ask for, and how strong your position is.
- Submit the refund request for the fees you counted, naming each one. If the bank’s form takes one fee at a time, submit one request per fee.
Part of the errand, but not something Hence Assistant does for you here:
- Switch card and ATM overdraft cover off in writing too.
- If it keeps happening, the account is the problem — not you.
What you approve, and what you get
These steps wait for your explicit yes before they happen:
- Submit the refund request for the fees you counted, naming each one. If the bank’s form takes one fee at a time, submit one request per fee.
What comes back:
- Every overdraft, NSF and returned-item fee as rows — date, amount and what triggered each — with the twelve-month total and the pages they were read from.
- The figure to ask for, the fees it is built from, and whether the card-and-ATM opt-in rule covers them.
- The request as submitted, the fees it names, and the bank’s reference for it.
Screenshots and documents are referenced by the task rather than pasted into your assistant’s transcript.
Intents
The ways of asking that reach this errand:
- I keep getting charged overdraft fees
- ask the bank to refund my overdraft fees
- get my overdraft fees back
- refund the NSF and returned-item fees on my checking account
Admission
Before it starts, it asks:
This is a phone call and a setting, and for most people it is thirty minutes well spent. Two situations need something else first — one of them urgently.
Say yes to any of these and it refuses:
- Honestly, the money runs out before the month does.
- The account has been closed or sent to a collection agency.
- It is a business account.
- I am actually disputing the payment that caused it, not the fee.
Hard stops it will not work around:
- Calling the bank on your behalf — voice is outside the pilot, so the ask goes into the bank’s own refund request instead.
- Switching overdraft cover off. That changes how the account behaves, and S0 asks for the fees back and nothing else.
- Disputing the payment that caused the fee — the fee follows the transaction, and a dispute has deadlines and protections a fee request does not.
- Citing the CFPB’s $5 overdraft cap, which was repealed in 2025: an ask built on it is wrong.
- An account that is closed, frozen or with a collection agency — the negative balance and the ChexSystems report beat the fee.
What it asks you for:
- The fee, each time — an amount, required.
- How many in the last year — a number, required.
- Did you opt in to overdraft cover? — one of a fixed list, optional.
- Mostly caused by — one of a fixed list, optional.
What it reads off the account pages instead of asking:
- Amount — an amount, optional, one per row.
- Date charged — a date, optional, one per row.
- What triggered it — one of a fixed list, optional, one per row.
- Was it one of several the same day? — one of a fixed list, optional, one per row.
What it reads from a statement or document you already have:
- Your bank — text, optional.
- Fees on this statement — a number, optional.
- Their phone number — text, optional.
